NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN?

In the opening chapter of Ecclesiastes, Kohelet, Solomon famously declared: “What has been is what will be. And what has been done is what will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun” (Eccl. 1:9). At first glance, this appears to be a very pessimistic aphorism about the meaningless of life. What is the point of living if everything has been accomplished already? Why even bother trying if there is no hope of true innovation?

TRUTH IS ETERNAL – GO AND FIND IT

If we take a closer look at the overall themes of the Book of Ecclesiastes, we see that the message of this verse is actually quite optimistic. Solomon is saying that despite the appearance of constant instability around us, in fact the world is anchored by eternal truths. Each one of us creates a life of meaning by uncovering these established truths for ourselves. What does the wisdom of Scripture mean to me? How can I apply the lessons of the Bible to my life?
