The Bible is much more than just a written text. It is filled with hidden meanings that are revealed only by a true exploration of the Bible’s original language. Translations are always tricky but when it comes to the Bible, the loss is simply tremendous! In order to get to the heart of the Bible, we have to read through the words. Do you know how to read through a word?
THE HIDDEN WORD/WORLD?
In a literal translation, the Hebrew word “Olam” - עוֹלָם is just another word for "world" or "universe". But reading through the word reveals something a little more interesting. The root ע.ל.מ is semantically connected to concealment. For instance, “ne’elam” נֶעֱלָם means hidden and "leha'alim" לְהַעְלִים means "to make something disappear".
In this example, the Hebrew language demonstrates a simple but complex truth: there is a direct connection between the world and the hidden presence of God in all of his creation.
